All Pakistan Shia Action Committee chief Allama Mirza Yusuf Husain was apprehended from his residence in Karachi by police late Saturday night.
The prominent Shia scholar Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain was taken into illegal custody without any charge in the wee hours of Sunday as undeclared crackdown on peaceful and patriot Pakistani Shia Muslims continued unabated.
Law enforcement agencies officials raided his house near Jamey Masjid Noor-e-Eeman in Nazimabad district central of Karachi violating the sanctity of privacy of house and family members.
Allama Mirza Yousuf Husain’s residence is attached to Jamia Masjid Noor-i-Iman in Nazimabad where he is Friday prayer leader.
MWM leader Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi in a statement, while condemning Husain’s detention, said that “killings of the mourners and detentions of Shia leaders were a conspiracy to foil Karachi operation.
Mirza Yousuf Hussain is a senior Shia cleric and known as the most respected Shia notable among the government and security quarters since he represents Shiites at security-related meetings with the security officials.
It is strange that elderly Shia scholar was arrested without any case against him and the timing, in the wee hours like a culprit that is also totally unfair. Shia Muslims have condemned the government for midnight arrest of a senior Shia notable who happens to be a Shia cleric.
His close aide Syed Ali Ousat was laos taken into illegal custody and his whereabouts were not known for last two weeks. Another Shia notable Faisal Raza Abidi was also detained and machination had it that he was being implicated in murder case.
