Moscow: UN-OPCW Mechanism on Syria lost credibility

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzia said that the UN-OPCW Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) on Syria is “dead” and has completely lost its credibility, asserting the need for establishing a new unbiased mechanism.

In press statement following a UN Security Council’s closed-door consultation session on Wednesday, Nebenzia added “The JIM, which ended its mission on November 16th , has completely lost its credibility and it can’t continue its work,” expressing Moscow’s readiness to talk about establishing new mechanism that would replace the current mechanism and work in objective, professional and unbiased way.
