Banned outfits contesting the elections is an insult to democracy: Bilawal

PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Wednesday that banned outfits contesting the elections is an insult to democracy.

He was talking to the media during his election campaign in Lalamusa.

Ex-Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Raza Rabbani also criticized the Election Commission over contesting of banned outfits in Election 2018.

According to reports, the Political parties are in contact with banned organizations and terror elements.

Takfiri terrorist Aurangzeb Farooqi and several others running in the July 25 elections are on Pakistan’s terrorism watch list, known as the “fourth schedule.” While that list prevents them from interacting with crowds in public, traveling outside certain areas and using their bank accounts, it does not say whether they can run for office.

Last month Pakistan was added to the grey list of countries involved in aiding financial assistance to terrorism money laundering by Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) decision.

To prevent being blacklisted by the task force, which could lead to international sanctions, Pakistan agreed last month to an action plan to crack down on terrorism at home.
