Shia Sunni parties stage sit-in at Punjab Assembly to protest Fort Abbas tragedy

Leaders and supporters of many Shia Islamic parties and allied Sunni parties staged a sit-in outside Punjab Assembly yesterday to protest against the brutal police action along with sectarian fanatics against a Majlis-e-Aza (mourning congregation) in Fort Abbas district Bahawalnagar.

Those who led the protesters included Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen leaders Nasir Shirazi, Asad Abbas Naqvi, Allama Hassan Raza Hamdani, Shia Ulema Council leader Allama Moosa Raza Jaskani, Dr Amjad Chishti of Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (Niazi), Allama Asghar Arif Chishti of Sunni Ulema Forum, Allama Waqarul Hasnain of Shia Shehriyan Pakistan Lahore and others.

They spoke to the protesters and said that there were facilitators of Daesh and other banned militant outfits in Punjab police. They demanded that such facilitators should be taken to task instead of harassment of people in the name of National Action Plan.
They demanded that the DPO Bahawalnagar Ammaa Athar, SHO Fort Abbas and those other police cops involved on attack on Majlis-e-Aza had perpetrated blasphemy and they must be booked for blasphemous brutal action against peaceful Majlis-e-Aza otherwise they would expand their protest across the country.
They said Pakistan came into being due to leadership, struggle and sacrifices of their ancestors but they are not being maltreated like oppressed Palestinians and Kashmiris in their own homeland Pakistan. They demanded immediate withdrawal of false case against the Shia family that hosted Majlis and they demanded suspension of SHO forthwith.
They said nowhere in Pakistan, people need to seek permission for wedding parties, funeral, mourning congregations then why permission is needed for Majlis-e-Aza that is held to mourn the martyrs of Karbala? They vowed they would not seek permission for Majlis-e-Aza anywhere in Pakistan.
