Renowned Shia politician and a businessman Syed Ali Raza Abidi embraced martyrdom when terrorists opened fire upon him at the main gate of his house in Defence Housing Authority scheme on Tuesday night.
Two ferocious terrorists riding a motorcycle were chasing his car which he was driving and alone at the time and as soon as he turned to main gate of his house, they stopped motorcycle near his car and one of them alighted and opened fire upon him in the car within 10 seconds. These were the fatal seconds between opening of the gate and firing. Three bullets hit him: two in neck and one in head.
First, his father Akhlaq Hussain Abidi took him to PNS Shifa and then Jinnah Hospital but he succumbed to fatal wounds. After postmortem, the body of the martyr was shifted to Imam Bargah at Masjid Yasrab premises in Defence phase IV where his funeral prayers will be held on Wednesday.
Martyr Abidi had served Pakistan as legislator on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) platform since 2013 to 2017. He had resigned as Member of National Assembly in November 2017 and resigned from the party in September this year.
Government and Opposition parties’ leaders and Shia Islamic parties leaders have condemned the targeted assassination of the Shia politician who had never been blamed for criminal activities and for that reason known as brightest face of his party MQM whom he parted ways.
