Hundreds of mourners booked as Youm-e-Ali processions take out across Sindh

Hundreds of Azadar-e-Imam Ali (AS) have been booked across the Sindh provinceafter the mourners participated annual processions.

KARACHI: At least 190 participants of Youm-i-Ali processions in Karachi have been arrested after they participated annual processions and Majlis-e-Aza.

A total of 39 FIRs were registered against the violators. According to an officer of South Zone police, 105 participants of a procession were arrested from their zone only.

HYDERABAD: Several hundred mourners took out a procession on Hyderabad’s Station Road after crossing barbed wires to observe Youm-i-Ali today.

The district administration and police had last night made it clear to the Anjuman-e-Imamiya Sindh (AIS), which holds a permit for holding the Youm-i-Ali procession every year, that the procession could not be taken out on Friday in view of the illegal ban.

But AIS general secretary Mirza Sadiq said it had been agreed with police that mourners would be allowed to reach Qadamgah Maula Ali to hold a majlis, and accused the police of stopping the participants from doing so.

Police registered FIR against more than 200 Azadar-e-Imam Ali (AS).

LARKANA: In Larkana, police attacked on several Imambargahs and  arrested hundreds of participants of Yom-e-Ali procession.

During the Lathicharge by police dozens of mourners were also injured.

After the arrest of mourners, the local leaders of Shia parties staged protest against police and demanded removal of SSP Larkana, Masood Bangash.

SHIKARPUR: Shikarpur police opened fire on peaceful Shia mourners and also detained dozens of Shia Muslims ahead Yom-e-Ali procession today and registered FIR against 40 mourners of Imam Ali (AS)

Police also arrested several activists of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslmeen (MWM) and Imamia Students Organization.

JACOBABAD: Police opened fire teargas shells on participants of Yom-e-Ali (AS) procession and detained dozens of mourners.
