Blast in Ashura procession; 5 martyred, 60 injured in Bahawalnagar

At least 5 mourners of Imam Hussain A.S were martyred and over 60 were injured after Ashura procession attacked in Bahawalnagar District of Punjab province  today.

Takfiri terrorists were inside Jamia Mosque Muhajir Colony, who threw hand grenade on mourners of Imam Hussain A.S at Police Line Road.

According to reports, the procession was on route in Bahawalnagar, was attacked with cracker from a Deobandi Takfiri Mosque.

Police have also arrested the alleged terrorist.

The ambulances were not available immediately after the blast.

Latter on, ambulances came and injured were rushed to District Headquarter Hospital.

Communications in the area were difficult as authorities had suspended mobile phone service across the country during the Ashura for security reasons.

Rangers have been deployed in the area, while further investigation is underway, he added.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a high-level meeting at the Safe City Authority and ordered the Counter Terrorism Department to submit a report on the Bahawalnagar blast after completing the combing operation and investigation.
