Araghchi: US must understand that respectful dialogue is the only path to lasting peace

Iran’s foreign minister said the path to peace requires US policymakers to recognize that lasting solutions can only be achieved through respectful dialogue—not reckless coercion.

In an op-ed for The Financial Times, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi wrote: “Israel’s war on Iran destroyed diplomacy, but the US can still revive it.” He added that in just five meetings over nine weeks with Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy, more progress was made than during four years of Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the Biden administration’s failed team. “We were on the verge of a historic breakthrough,” he wrote, “with multiple win-win solutions on the table.”
