First batch of Iranian Hajj pilgrims arrives in Medina

More than 1.8 million pilgrims are expected for the Hajj season this year

The first group of Iranian Hajj pilgrims from arrived in Medina on Sunday, marking the beginning of their sacred journey.

The Passports Office at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport efficiently completed entry procedures for arriving pilgrims.

The General Directorate of Passports confirmed that it has mobilised all available resources to facilitate the arrival of pilgrims as more than 1.8 million pilgrims are expected for the Hajj season 2025.

Some top officials, among them the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadeq, representative of the Leader in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, Hujjat-ul-Islam Abdul Fattah Navvab and also the ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Iran, Hasan Ibrahm Hamad Al-Zoyed flagged off the pilgrims at Imam Khomeini International Airport in the capital Tehran early on Monday, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

This year, 85,450 pilgrims from across Iran, including 13,900 pilgrims from Sunni community, will attend the Hajj 2025.

According to the head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, some 20 flights Iran will carry Iranian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia daily.

Hajj is the major Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca. All Muslims who are physically and financially capable must perform the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime.
