Mobile Internet Restored in Parachinar After 8-Month Suspension, Roadblocks Still Hinder Aid

Relief is trickling into Parachinar as mobile internet services, including 3G and 4G networks, have been reportedly restored after an eight-month suspension. The prolonged outage had severely impacted the local population, hindering communication and access to vital information.
However, the humanitarian crisis in the region persists. Thousands remain stranded due to the continued closure of the main highway and several other routes in the Kurram district. This isolation, a consequence of ongoing clashes and firing incidents, is severely limiting access to basic necessities such as food and healthcare for the residents.
Earlier reports indicated that the lack of medical facilities and resources, exacerbated by the road closures, had tragically contributed to the deaths of over hundreds people, including children. While the restoration of internet services is a welcome development, the blockade continues to impede the delivery of essential aid and the movement of people in and out of the affected areas.
Local activists and political figures have been vocal in their appeals to the government to take immediate action. They urge for the reopening of routes and the establishment of a secure and permanent passage on the main highway to alleviate the suffering of the isolated population. Efforts to foster peace and stability through negotiations with community elders are reportedly underway.
