India wants to carry out a military operation against Pakistan

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar Ahmad says Pakistan is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Speaking at a news conference in New York, he said Pakistan is monitoring the situation stemming from India’s aggressive moves and we will seek a UN Security Council meeting when appropriate to do so.

He said also added in his address “The detailed intelligence indicates that there are imminent threats of Indian military operations against Pakistan.”

Pakistan envoy said Pakistan believes that the Security Council, in fact, has the mandate, it would be very legitimate for any member of the Council, including Pakistan, to request a meeting.

Asked about UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres offer of good-offices to both India and Pakistan to de-escalate tensions, Ambassador Asim said Pakistan has welcomed the UN chief’s move.

He said in fact, Pakistan has always offered its cooperation to any peace moves by UN Secretaries-General.
