Pakistan, Turkiye, Azerbaijan to work closely for regional peace: PM

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed willingness to discuss all issues with India on the negotiation table, including trade, provided India demonstrates sincerity of purpose and cooperation.

Addressing the second Trilateral Summit in Lachin city of Azerbaijan, he said Pakistan wants peace in the region and in this connection Kashmir issue should be resolved according to the UNSC resolutions and as per aspiration of the people of Kashmir.

The Prime Minister said unfortunately, India threatened to stop the flow of water into Pakistan but proper arrangements were being made to counter this move.

He said if India wanted to talk on countering terrorism with sincerity of purpose, Pakistan would be willing to talk to them on this issue as well.

The prime minister also appreciated the role of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir who led the armed forces to fight with great bravery and the highest level of professional acumen.

Meanwhile, addressing a ceremony in Lachin to mark Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the people of Azerbaijan for their fight to secure independence He said Pakistan supported the brotherly people of Azerbaijan politically and diplomatically.

Highlighting the freedom struggle of people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister said the Kashmiris have fought the Indian brutalities for over many decades.

He said Kashmiri people will never give up their struggle till they get their basic right of freedom as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

He also reiterated the call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

On the other hand, in a post on X, Shehbaz Sharif said the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan trilateral summit in Lachin will further strengthen our shared resolve to always stand together.

He said Pakistan, Turkiye and Azerbaijan will work closely to advance regional peace, prosperity and cooperation.

Shehbaz Sharif said we are now three nations, one heart.

He said trilateral summit has reaffirmed the deep-rooted brotherhood among three nations.
