Pakistan warns world against dangers of hate speech

Pakistan has warned the world against the dangers of hate speech, disinformation and violent extremism, stating that the rise in their incidence is targeting people of different faiths, including Muslims.

Making a national statement at a high-level event in New York marking the “International Day for Countering Hate”, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad stated if unchecked, such hate-filled narratives have the potential to fracture societies, thus endangering peace and stability around the world.

He urges the full implementation of the UN strategy and plan of action on hate speech. He said addressing hate in all its forms and manifestations is key to global harmony.
