Parliament speaker restates Iran’s unshakable support for Lebanese nation, govt.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has reaffirmed Tehran’s unwavering support for the Lebanese nation and government amid unrelenting Israeli attacks on the Arab nation, which killed at least 492 people, including 35 children, in a single day.

Qalibaf said on Tuesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the assassination and mass killing of Lebanese people as a result of the recent terrorist attack by the Zionist regime, and the bombing of homes of defenseless people.

He also paid homage to fallen victims, expressed Iran’s unflinching support for the Lebanese government and nation and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded.

The top Iranian legislator further emphasized that the wicked Zionist regime has proven that it is the most despicable criminal entity in human history, saying, “It recklessly kills children, commits genocide, slaughters innocent people through blind acts of terrorism, and takes pride in such actions.”

“All this comes while the perpetrators of these crimes received a standing ovation at the US Congress before the eyes of the world, showing contempt for all humanitarian values . [The United States of] America and its European stooges underline international laws only when it benefits them and their allies. The ruling US administration is ready to sacrifice humanity for the sake of military and industrial interests as well as global Zionism,” Qalibaf pointed out.

‘Israel doomed to collapse’

He went on to note that the Zionist regime is doomed to collapse as injustice will surely not last, and the international community will hold the instigators and perpetrators of these crimes to account.

“Muslim states must awaken. If brotherhood between Muslims is not enough for them, they should have Arab zeal, and throw their weight behind the Axis of Resistance. The Zionist killing machine must be stopped through the cooperation of all world countries and justice-seekers of the world, especially Muslim states. Peace should be established in Gaza as soon as possible,” Qalibaf noted.

Israel has launched more than 650 attacks on some 1,300 sites across Lebanon over the past 24 hours, killing 492 people and wounding 1,645 others, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

The attacks have caused widespread chaos and forced scores of people to evacuate southern and eastern parts of the country as concerns grow over a full-scale war.

Lebanon’s civil defense says its crews have tackled 176 fires amid Israeli strikes across the country.

It said it responded to blazes in agricultural land in Harf Miziara and Qartaba and in a landfill in Mashha, among others.

Meanwhile, France has “requested that an emergency meeting of the Security Council be held on Lebanon this week”.

“I’m thinking of the Lebanese people as Israeli strikes have just killed hundreds of civilians, including dozens of children. These strikes conducted on both sides of the blue line, and in the region more broadly, must immediately end,” France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot told the UN General Assembly on Monday, referring to the demarcation line dividing Lebanon from the 1948 Israeli-occupied territories and the occupied Golan Heights.
