“Peace Convention on Kurram” held in Islamabad / Parachinar become “Gaza of Pakistan”

The convention began with a speech by Syed Tajammul Hussain Fakhri, a member of Anjuman Hussainia. He stated that the hardships and unrest faced by the people of Kurram are the result of government apathy.
The “Kurram Peace Convention” was organized by elders from Kurram and the Parachinar Youth from Rawalpindi and Islamabad. A large number of religious scholars, journalists, political and social figures participated and addressed the gathering.
Syed Tajammul Hussain Fakhri said that the brave people of Kurram have endured unbearable conditions over the past six months.
Today, Parachinar has become the “Gaza of Pakistan” surrounded from all sides, while the state security forces have completely failed in their duty to protect the people.
Mufti Gulzar Naeemi, head of Jamaat Ahl-e-Haram, also addressed the convention, strongly condemning the ongoing unrest in Parachinar and demanding immediate action from the government.
Syed Hassan Zafar Naqvi, a senior member of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, said that Parachinar has been under siege for the past seven months. Hundreds of people have been killed, and not a single day goes by without distressing news from there. He added, “We will not rest until the issues of Parachinar are resolved.”
Former Senate Chairman and senior Pakistan People’s Party leader Nayyar Bukhari said that violence and killings have continued in Kurram for a long time. Peace is impossible until we engage in mutual dialogue.
MWM parliamentary leader Hamid Hussain Tori warned that if the Parachinar issue is not resolved in Pakistani courts, they will take it to international courts. He emphasized that due to government incompetence, losses worth billions have occurred, for which accountability is necessary.
MPA Ali Hadi criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, stating that failed policies of Ali Amin Gandapur have led to unrest and road closures in Kurram.
MWM Vice Chairman Allama Syed Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi said that Parachinar’s roads have been closed for seven months, and hundreds of lives have been lost. The government and state institutions should be ashamed of this situation.
Harmit Singh stated that the siege and killings in Parachinar go against Pashtun traditions. Jirga member Hussain Ali Hussaini blamed the government’s negligence for the unrest in Parachinar.
IDC Chairperson Gul Zahra said that the mass killing of Parachinar’s youth is a dark stain on the government. She added that the government’s inability to eliminate a few hundred extremist terrorists makes it seem as if they are actually supporting them.
Renowned journalist Siddique Jan, Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Opposition Leader Meesam Kazim, MWM Provincial President Allama Jehanzaib Jafari, Allama Syed Sibtain Hussaini, and other speakers also addressed the convention and expressed deep concern over the worsening situation in Parachinar.
The speakers demanded that the siege of Parachinar be ended immediately, the Tal-Parachinar road be opened for all types of traffic, and that terrorists be completely eliminated.
