Senate Passes Unanimous Resolution Against Indian Allegations Over Pahalgam Attack

The Senate of Pakistan on Friday unanimously passed a resolution strongly condemning India’s attempt to link Pakistan with the recent deadly attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

The tragic incident, which occurred earlier this week at the popular tourist destination, left at least 26 people dead and 17 others injured. Most of the victims were tourists from various parts of India, with one reported casualty from Nepal. According to Indian media, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a group of visitors, prompting a swift security response.

India has attempted to implicate Pakistan in the incident without evidence, a move Islamabad has categorically rejected.

In a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) held a day prior in the federal capital, Pakistan urged India to “refrain from its reflexive blame game and cynical, staged managed exploitation of incidents like Pahalgam to further its narrow political agenda.”

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who moved the resolution in the Senate, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace but underscored that any provocation would be met with full national resolve. The resolution stated, “Pakistan remains fully capable and prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any aggression, including water terrorism or military provocation.”

The Senate’s resolution reflects a united political stance against what it called India’s “baseless and irresponsible accusations.”
