Senior Millat Jafferia scholar Sheikh Mohsin Ali Najafi passes away in Islamabad
Revered Pakistani Shia scholar, Allama Sheikh Mohsin Najafi has died at the age of 80, prompting an outpouring of tributes from his followers and leaders.
The senior Millat Jafferia scholar’s resting place will be Jamia-ul-Kausar, his funeral will be held after Zuhr prayers on Wednesday.
The founder of Jamia Al-Kawthar Islamic Seminary was most respected among the Shia followers.
Besides the long preaching, Najafi served as the president of the Supreme Council of the Ahl-ul-Bayt Assembly.
He hailed from the Gilgit Baltistan region. He completed his basic education at a seminary school.
In 60s, Najafi went to Iraq, to study religious studies under senior scholars like Ayatollahs Khoei and Baqir al-Sadr. He returned to his homeland after a decade and started teaching.
The deceased was said to be master of Quran interpretation, Islamic philosophy, and ethics. He authored several books including Al Kauthar fi Tafsir Al Quran.
People from religious schools expressed condolences on the demise of Mohsin Najafi, as his services will be remembered.
National Assembly speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf also mourned over death of the senior scholar, saying the country and Ummah will not forget his efforts for promoting Islamic unity and spreading religious values.
