
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori concluded a visit to Baghdad where he engaged in discussions with Governor Abdul Mutalib al-Alawi, focusing on bolstering bilateral cooperation and exploring opportunities for collaboration across various key sectors, including the economy.
During the meeting, Governor Tessori highlighted the Pakistani government’s initiatives aimed at attracting foreign investment. He specifically mentioned the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the One-Window Operation project, spearheaded by Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, as key mechanisms designed to streamline and support foreign investment in Pakistan.
Governor Tessori extended a direct invitation to Iraqi investors, encouraging them to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan through the SIFC framework. He emphasized the potential for mutually beneficial economic partnerships between the two nations.
The meeting was also attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iraq, Muhammad Zeeshan, along with prominent members of the Bohra community and other distinguished individuals, underscoring the diverse stakeholders involved in fostering stronger ties between Sindh and Iraq.
Prior to the bilateral discussions, Governor Tessori paid his respects at the revered shrines of Maula Ali (AS) in Najaf and Imam Hussain (AS) and Maula Abbas (AS) in Karbala. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the Governors of Najaf and Karbala for the arrangements and hospitality extended during his pilgrimage.
This visit signifies an effort to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Pakistan and Iraq, with a particular focus on attracting foreign investment and fostering collaboration in key economic sectors. Governor Tessori’s engagement with Iraqi leadership and business communities signals a proactive approach towards enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for mutual growth.
